What do you think of the Vindicator Variants? Smurfy has it up aloready! Seems like other than SJB there is another that would allow mounting of engine abover 250 (XL295?) Either way it seems nice. Oh we have a ballistic variant too.
None look that good to me. Only the VND-1AA has the speed required 116.8 as opposed to 99kph of the others. But the 1AA doesn't have enough fire power with only 4 energy slots and one missile(20) slot to make it a very good mech. I don't see these mechs being of much use, but maybe I will be proved wrong.
Typical medium that can be 'fun' but never a factor. Unfortunately, having a few ML to a build just doesn't cut it in most games against clans nowadays. The 1AA could be okay with 2ll, 2ml, 2ams, xl290 (115kph). 1R with 5ml, srm6a, std235 (93kph) is meh. 1X I couldn't even think of anything good to make it unique and seems like the worst of the bunch since it can't fit an ac20 like the BJ, maybe 1 gauss, 2ml, std200 (79kph) for that one... We'll see how the hitboxes treat it.
Interesting, i like the X most. Some Energy HPs and a single Missile Pod don't Rock my World. But Triple Ballistics is quite viable. But the engine Cap - wtf??! Why make the same handicap the BJ has?
It seems that with the head laser hardpoint and the 20-tube high-mounted torso missile hardpoint it could make a decent LRM spammer: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=208&l=3bd0a01f4c1db2fa86f19983f7fb6baa4b977d60
I don't understand the point of the engine limit being so low. It literally has nothing else another medium doesn't already have, and even with a 300 engine rating limit it's still below the Treb's engine caps. Hardly overpowering. I'll probably get it just for the challenge to do well in a more limited mech.
I prefer this variant as LRM boat. Only one ammo dependant weapon, the LRMs themselves, and plenty energy slots to spare one for a TAG. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=206&l=93af430faa099847f759faadfcc35ed42f694648 EDIT: I feel the 3x ballistic variant should be built in a storm-mode mech, sorta this http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=208&l=7d9aad9b3ff805623e7e1788f4e3bf3ea299149e
That looks great [member=4725]Auriga[/member] . I'd only place the TAG in the head to minimize exposure and make the 4x ML more effective. And remove a JJ for full armor (those legs really look like they need it!) http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=206&l=f55a1e69a0bb5d141958d3c989a3227ad2d20ebd
I was thinking of building the X like this, plenty of crit potential. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=208&l=78d15c09295fdf32058a38b6ce21eb9555ec886f
They seem kinda cool, I guess. Black jacks for people who like brawler arms. Still, I expect these to go the way of the Quickdraw.
I suppose the X like this could also work, the engine limit really does suck http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=208&l=b87cfd607f6e75ed730bbb16fec4ce3f29f69c4d
Hey, look, it's a Blackjack! By the way you only have 9 DHS in there. Welcome to the madening world of BJ crafting.
Call me a meta whore, but this is the first build I'm going to try: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=208&l=4924df0310177e5bc3aa3c3ab39a44de16bee38f Another theory-crafted build that looks interesting: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=206&l=3d5a0e1cdd0a26a1740ebb315276ddf572007d76 (well, that is if I farm enough cbills to buy Novas and Direwolves)
[member=2045]epikt[/member] I think that 1 JJ for the intended role of that -1X is too few. 3 cuold be a good number
I wish I could mount 3 jets, but the weaponry is already very heavy. You can, if you downgrade to an XL200, but it's very slow, you lose 10kph: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=208&l=c62a13ff9cbf96b64fa7f23f89495f4114564504 As enileph said 1JJ is not for poptarting, just for mobility (I always mount at least one if the chassis allows it).
I agree in mounting 1 at least if the chassis/omnipod-combo allows it. But the -1X u made is a complete poptart....and u know its true I would anyways take the ton for 2 more from the ammo, cause seems the wisest choice. As u said, XL200 its just too slow
