I like the build! It's my preference to sacrifice the AMS for more ammo... but eh. Here's an example of a good match:
Just incase you like a bit more cheese, I present DoubleCheese : With all those Locusts running around, better not forget your insecticide at home :3
Dig it, V! Great loadout. Work is hell right now, but, I can wait to run this. It's just what my Blackjacks wish they could do. High weapon mount, dual AC/5 and actuator arm mounted lasers. NOM! 5/5
I tried the 2xUAC5 last night and then re did it with this exact config. Was getting anywhere between 400-600 DMG per match, not many kills though as I ended up as the 'suppressing fire mech' It reminds me of a mini Cataphract 4X build (4xAC5, 2xML, XL255).
Build based on a rather fun YouTube video I cam across. Note: this is not mine, but I wanted to share it here because A) it looks fun and B) I'l be using it a lot because it's the inverse of my favorite "Davion's Pride" Centurion build.
http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=4073.0 This build is already on the forums (albeit with a standard engine, XL engines are often just variants
I needed more ammo as I was always running out - dropped a JJ and a little bit of armor and now my cannon's are much happier.
I like the XL version personally I've been testing this build a lot in the past few days and having great success. This is a match I just finished with the above build (ran out of 7 tons of ammo). I think the 5M is the most limited Shadowhawk as it can only do 2E, 2B builds. (Any other builds can be done by the 2H or 2D2 with more missile hardpoints). However, this build is excellent with the speed and ammo to provide cover fire or jumpbrawl depending on the situation. I have been experimenting with different module configurations and have settled on Improved Gyros + Advanced Zoom. I don't always use the advanced zoom, (in that screenshotted match I only used it at the start) but it is nice to have on more open maps. The improved gyros help in keeping shots in target.
I tried to make it work with an XL325, but that's just a bit too heavy. I think the XL300 is as high as you should go unless you really make use of the +8kph.
Yeah, the loss of 2 tons of ammo and some armour is not worth it. It works so well with an XL300 already.
is my build at the moment, and im loving it. gives me enough close range to chase off lights, or finish off people from around a corner, and the AC5s are awesome. kinda missing ams but right now it's manageable.
Match doesn't last long enough to use all that ammo, and removing the 2 medium lasers (which is the only thing that generates heat anyway) are needed to keep this build at a somewhat okay DPS level. If you're not going for maximum alpha, you should try to build for maximum efficiency.
