What if you went up to MRM 80 and shifted the pulse lasers down to regular medium lasers? You'd have higher alpha, higher sustained dps, higher range, and still have 2 tons to spare: Maybe you use those two tons to change the armor to standard and pick up another heat sink? Or if you really want to go crazy, there is this:
MRM80+4ML is a nice idea. I went with MRM60+4MPL because of several reasons: Heat efficiency. 19 DHS cooling 19 heat is cooler at long range sandblasting than 17 DHS cooling 24.61 heat. While overall heat efficiency seems higher for MRM80, it's because the 40s and ML fire slower than the 30s and MPL. MPL have better Damage per Tick, and are therefore better at opening components (which can then be crit out by the murms) slot efficiency (though with the MRM80+4ML you also get full slot efficiency so that doesn't really count) as such, MRM80+ML is more of a second-line poking strategy and MRM60+MPL is edged slightly more towards the brawl.
