    Catapult CPLT-L5 "YI WO FENG"

A CPLT-L5 in Red Lancers livery engaged in combat.

The CPLT-L5 "Yi Wo Feng" is a 3060 Capellan redesign of the formidable K5 variant produced in the Draconis Combine. Hollis Incorporated aimed to produce a Catapult with more stamina and more survivability to compete with its Kuritan cousin.

Built on the K5's Endo Steel chassis, the L5 removes the Medium Pulse Lasers in the 'Mech's center torso to save weight and increase heat efficiency. The heat sinks are upgraded to their double-strength counterparts, and three additional double heat sinks are added to grant the variant an incredible heat curve. The four Jump Jets of the original C1 variant produced by Hollis at the formation of the Star League are added to this design as well.

The most significant change was the replacement of the 260-rated extralight engine with a slightly heavier 270-rated Light Fusion Engine, adding a few kilometers to the Catapult's top speed—and to its ability to take a beating.

Having also stripped the C3 Slave unit, the only other elements of the K5 that this variant retains are the MRM-30s, firing from a shared 5-ton bin of ammunition a pilot would have to struggle to empty.

The design earned the nickname of "Yi Wo Feng" amongst Capellan MechWarriors, after the "Nest of Bees" rocket launcher utilized during the Ming Dynasty of China.

This is a point and click MRM-tart that trades firepower for great heat efficiency. You can keep the pressure on pretty consistently and rack up a ton of damage with this build as long as you keep yourself out of harms away and allow the assaults to take most of the hits.

Asymmetric MRM40+MRM20 variant with an extra heat sink and LE300, you can even ignore the ghost heat if you want (2xMRM30=19.00; MRM40+MRM20+1.61GH=19.11), shield with your left side, it contains nothing but a bit of the light engine:
