I swapped to this early last week after deciding I liked the 3xAC5 build, but I didn't love it. And then today it got buffed. You pick a spot about 150m back from your front line friendlies where you can still get a pretty clear shot and wait for an enemy to commit to a push, and then just spray. It suppresses, it deals decent DPS, and it seems to jam way less after the buff. It's actually a pretty great use of a Rifleman, similar to the standard AC5 builds but with a chainsaw twist. I like how Smurfy and AweMech both refuse to calculate cooling efficiency. I dunno, I've jammed up on all 3 guns before I even got close to running warm.
I am working on a 3xRAC2 setup for my shadowhawk but was not able to test it yet. As you are trying to stay behind and give direct fire support, what do you think of using an XL engine? Should be better for repositioning and avoiding close combat situations. I do not own a rifleman, but could imagine that the ST hitboxes are OK for XLs.
@schnaetz the hitboxes on a Rifleman are actually fairly XL friendly if you twist damage well enough, my only issue with it was that using RACs to any great effect pretty much makes it so you can't wiggle damage across your entire mech. If I had any other type of Autocannon I probably would give XL a shot though.
Not beeing able to spread the incoming damage due to constant fire (best case) is a valid point. Will test that on the SHD-2H as this loadout sounds so tempting on a medium but you made me a bit less optimistic
I haven't tried 3xRAC2 but I was running a RAC5 and a RAC2 together with an LE280 in my Shadow Hawk and it worked well enough. Personally asides from the 3xAC2 spam build I'm partial to a single RAC5, 2xMRM10s and an ERML with the LE280. But try anything you want, that's what I do. That's literally how I ended up with a 2xAC20 Cicada - I thought it would be funny to try.
@Alloh_BR backup weapons are always nice to have, even if it's just when youyou waiting for guns to unjam. Big fan of how adding lasers makes cooling efficiency appear to increase from 0% to 167%. Thanks for the rate!
Switch to FF instead of LFF for more Ammo or more armor; the slots are there. I'll try to rate this at some point, but my STs get blown off at first contact every single time and that's just the RFL being the RFL.
Ah, there are enough slots. Actually I think I knew that, but there weren't enough slots for my previous Dao Breaker build without dropping to LFF and I wanted to keep the option of reverting for free if I didn't like the RACs. Which I do. I still use it, so I should probably change it up to full FF. Thanks for bringing that up, I never would have changed it otherwise.
5/5, Probably one of the best fits for the odd hardpoint distribution. I keep switching between this and AC5s, but the RAC2 just has a very nice ammo/ton ratio over the AC5, making it easierto run. High hardpointsmakes it easy to exploit the supprressive fire. Hard to use effectively against anything lighter than 70 tons, so pick targets wisely, your job is to suppress the biggest weaponboats out of the game.
5/5, With 3 Smalls Laser in backup, it's a perfect Fire Support platform, I love it! FF instate of LFF and you can play with 5 SLAS. DAO BREAKER
First QP game 707 damage 0xp. The quest to enable every good triple RAC2 chassis continues. Here's my slight modifications:
The lasers were in the arms by design. Higher hardpoints offering better FoV? I guess they're slightly more survivable in the torso but if an arms gone I'm not sure a single small pewpew is going to make much difference
4/5, I gave the build profile 4 out of 5 stars, I had a great time with it. However, it had too many ammo tons for RAC/2. So, I replaced one of them with a DHS. I experienced having a pretty big pile of ammo left at ending of the game while was a waste of ton. Now, the change seems to be better. I'm happy with the 'mech. Thanks for the build profile, Krev. _
Thanks for all the rates and Alt versions, never thought it would be quite as popular as it's gotten. Given the ammo amount it's probably valid for a FP drop deck. If anyone's tried it lemme know.
5/5, I had allot of fun with this build, i use 4xER-SML. I chain fire when im at close range at the same time as using the RAC.
