You aren't the only one man. I had to turn particles off. I'm running an i7-2600k with 16gb ram and a 780Ti and I slow to brief crawls when there are massive explosions and particles.
Not even with some config tweaks? I reckon i could try dropping the resolution to non-widescreen resolution (1024x768 or so i guess, currently playing with 1280x720), though i doubt it will have much effect (since upping it didn't have big impact either, not with all settings low already). Ah, well, i'll wait till the next patch at very least before giving up on the game as long as i have this laptop.
I got a hint elsewhere that using DX11 mode might help. Trying that out now. Seemingly working on other maps... (Drivers are not up to date but i haven't seen them having any impact on any game i play for the last few versions. Will update them of course) EDIT DX11 helped a bit with performance overall. Unfortunately the new map still runs pretty badly at times, usually when there are a lot of lights (and flames) on screen at once (which is often), meaning i can't really play on the map properly. If i had a missile boat perhaps... but i dislike using one. I hope they do some kind of optimization pass or something on the map...
After 5 days and about 40 games, I finally got on this map for the first time...with my Splattoner, no less. Every bit as fun with an SRM build as I expected it to be
[member=4831]Empyrus[/member] Try this http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/65818-sudden-fps-drop-due-to-corrupted-cache/ Just had a sudden drop for no reason in 3 maps, the others were fine, and checked around. This solved the issue for me
