What is the state of the current clan Autocannon assault meta? Hands down you have the MCII-B with 2xUAC10/2xUAC5. Then maybe you have the DWF-B with 2xUAC10/3xUAC5. Then maybe the Ultraviolet with 8xAC2. But what to do, dakka-wise, on the Blood Asp? A unit mate of mine made this nice and simple 5xUAC5 build, and I am digging it. I do not think it is OP, but it is quite fun and very solid. Pros: 1. Except for one arm, all your mounts are exceptionally nice and high mounted. 2. ECM is nice. 3. Mobility at 64.8 kph is pretty nice, although your yaw and pitch is terrible. 4. Theoretical 100 point double tap in a little under 2 seconds! With excellent velocity and a range out to over 600 meters. Cons: 1. Ammo is a little tight. Not horrible, but a little tight. You can't spam the trigger, but have to really aim and make your shots count. 2. Breaks ghost heat limit. But no worries, even on hot maps this is not too much of an issue. The inevitable jams will curtail your heat problems. Step out of cover, fire about 2-3 double taps, then if you are taking fire step back into cover to clear your jams and/or cool off if necessary. I went for a 10 and 3x5s. Keeps them all in the high-mounts and means you can empty both the arms - I'm sure this works fine, though.
Another good Blood Asp dakka option I saw a couple guys running last night on quickplay is 2xUAC10, 1xUAC20. A little more close and personal, but more sustainable on the ammo and you can take a TC.
My feeling is you're kinda wasting the ECM by not being able to put down the hurt at half a click. At that range with the ECM skill nodes they won't be able to target you whilst you turn their screen to annoying white-flash shaky hell.
Oh yeah, shutting down the front-line to lurm-spam is definitely a thing - but I'm not sure it's this baby's metier.
Playing it again recently - it still works very nicely. You can up the ammo a little bit more by shaving some armor off the legs. People generally don't go for your legs, and your high mounts mean when peaking usually your legs are obstructed by terrain. So it is safe to shave another half ton off the legs to get some more shells in.
BrioS took it out for a spin, along with the 1xUAC10, 3xUAC5, 3xERSL version: BrioS throwing down again:
