I picked this thing up in the recent sale because I do not have a Zeus yet, and tried several builds before settling on this one.

The Zeus suffers from the ol' bad hardpoint situation (and bad hitboxes/fragility as well). Initial builds I tried involved a ballistic in the arm and combinations of missiles/energy. After a few quickplays none of them were really satisfying me that much. I think it is best to say screw the arm hardpoints and focus on the CT and LT hardpoints.

I definitely wanted to go MASC, it makes the chassis pretty unique. MASC + speed tweak gets you moving over 90 kph, which is awesome. You want to use this mobility to get into a position where you can use cover to get repeat pokes in the 150 to 400 meter range. Break cover, alpha strike, twist to give them your RIGHT side (or whichever side has more armor left), and return to cover using your MASC. The MRM's have a duration but at the 200 to 300 meter range they sync pretty well with the single SNPPC. A 70 point alpha strike is pretty respectable if you can get the majority of your MRM's to land on target.

Ideally you are a shoot from cover mech, but you CAN brawl certain types of enemies if the situation merits.

Skill tree: max speed tweak to maximize the benefit of the 4 tons you are putting into MASC, and maximize the survival tree. After that, remaining points at your discretion.

More pinpoint, no ghost heat and therefore more heat efficient, but runs a bit hotter

Looks like a very solid alternate build. Slightly slower, slightly hotter, but probably equally effective. 20 pinpoint will certainly help give you better ability to engage lights. Go deep in the cool run/heat containment/heat gen investment and it should be fine on the heat.

    - edit - with only 2 tons, I think you are light on MRM ammo. Hard to see where you are going to give up tonnage to get more ammo. I recommend going minimum 20 volleys worth of ammo. 2 tons only gets you 13 full volleys.
