The point is not who you were talking about, my point was that you shit on people for the sake of shitting on people, nothing more nothing less. And it was an honest to god question, I am actually curious as to why you stick around here after getting burned by PGI so much that you absolutely loathe them and have your own crusade against them. And no, because I feel like it is not an answer, just dodging the question.

I know the actual discussion has nothing to do with me but I understand the mindset of what you just posted - yes, I'm highly aware of this on the macro-level of this website and the way people view these sorts of things. It occasionally rears its head and I try and respond properly (in both attack and defense of the game).

Anyways I just noticed this post and I wanted to thank you for understanding why I even still post here.
Sometimes, someone needs to be 'that guy' and while I've never been one to sentimentally stay on a sinking ship(or simply been uncomfortable 'moving on'), I really do feel a lot of love for the game itself, I really do respect the the BT/MW community at large [one of the classiest in the world of gaming], and try and give PGI the benefit of the doubt. I genuinely hope the game gives all players the best experience it can, and believe strongly in the spirit of the game, regardless of its imperfections or issues.

But at the same time, I'm not afraid to let my man out, and being 'retired' so to speak makes that easier at times to justify my opinions, since I'm not emotionally or personally invested in the game as much anymore... I call it how I see it.

Anyways, people should, even if they are being highly critical, try and show at least flavor in their vitriol (or at least objectivity) otherwise it's just another generic mad guy without much insight to pass on. I'm not saying Jacob is that, or anything, I'm just saying.

I think mechspeccers get it that I wouldn't be posting here if I didn't feel there was something positive and redeeming about the game, developers, and community as a whole. I appreciate other people being critical of the game, and also people who talk positively about the game, what I don't like is bullshit and the reality is that both sides have turd-droppers on occasion.

It's important to remember that I, as a person, feel I have been personally wronged and offended by PGI and IGP as a company, for various reasons. I mean, I've been banned from the main forums for over a year for a reason [owning too hard]... but I try and remain objective and I try and remain constructive here on mechspecs, everything else is flavor [gimmick] built upon those approaches. And that doesn't mean I won't play the game again, I'm not banned from the actual game. Finally, let me mention that Michael, our gracious webmaster, is a fair and honest man, who I trust will always maintain this website in an unbiased and civil manner.

Imagine how much fun it'll be when they make said "community representatives" into community managers!!11 AFAIK they don't have one ATM after the last one left, so who else would take on that position at this point?

Based on having watched the stream and talked to some of the guys, they don't seem like bad people at all. The only thing I worry about is that they might (if they already haven't) lose their criticisms. Someone like SideStrafe is always willing to criticize, and i think that's great, because that is what is needed to help PGI move along. If not for the supportive and loyal player base, this game would have died not a year out of open beta. So at this point i believe that even though NGNG is a part of PGI, they and everyone else in PGI need to continue to criticize each other and compete to be the very best they can, as this drives development forward and makes for a better game. If PGI wants to support Streamers, then good for them, but they must realize that each person has their own thoughts/opinions.

    Yes.
    This.
If you ever think the MWO playerbase is immature and caustic, try playing WOT on the EU server and have fun listening to twelve year old russians talking about ethnic cleansing. ಠ_ಠ
I don't think i even want to get into DOTA, COD, LoL...
This playerbase is one of the reasons i play this game for fun and as a break from WOT

Have you seen some of the current in game comments in MWO?

Frankly I don't think I've ever seen a FPS game w/o trash talking, some are just marginally better than others.

I soloed a DWF during that last contest and got called a "c u n t" for that because I didn't let myself die so that one of the people nowhere near me could get his kill. I kid you not no one was within about 650-700m of me when the DWF nicely blind sided me. I was amused admittedly but seriously..... get a life. Even the DWF pilot I killed told him to grow up.

Theres fairly non stop trash talking from certain players I see regularly in matches - its totally deliberate as they spam identical stuff at the start/end of each match or just pick a political issue (usually Ukraine etc). I just imagine them as spotty 13 year old boys in their mothers basements with "anger managment issues" or obese 30 year olds that never left home and have no concept of how to behave in real life.

Of course you could then try World of Tanks on the test server and you'll find all the worst behaviours as they're mixed location - TKing of people just because they're not from your country, abuse, political trolling and ranting....

But... lets be honest most players don't do it deliberately at all its just frustration talking and most games in MWO will go w/o any sort of comments at all.

This is certainly correct. And while I didn't intend to say the MWO playerbase is without fault (ofc it is) I was just comparing it to other games as it is a fair bit more mature. But your point on frustration and venting is definitely true. one of the ways for PGI to remedy that type of behavior is to make a game that is less frustrating (pointed look at LRMs). and about LRMs. why not make them just like they were in MechWarrior 4 Mercs? need LOS to lock and fire, indirect fire with TAG and NARC. it just makes sense...

Not sure thats really it though and I hate anything that makes the game more one dimensional.

Its just natural that we will all die badly at some point or another and being human we look for reasons. If we're honest we look at ourselves first to learn from the incident and then others. Sadly too often people just blame it on "others" and therefore never really develop.

If I'm being honest I'm usually frustrated in game most at two things.... myself...and being abandoned by the team or dying trying to defend people abandoned by the team.

Kinda the reason I've been solo playing since returning (besides not sure if staying, much less tryharding with a group). I've had a few moments of "what the fuck is my team doing" but really it's mostly moments of looking at my own play and saying, you know what to do, so shape up and do it right next time. Isolate your own play and develop discipline.
